China’s national institute publishes draft revised national standard for setting energy efficiency requirements for products

On July 30, 2024, the China National Institute of Standardization published a draft revised national standard called the General Principles of Stipulation for Energy Efficiency Requirements of Energy Consuming Products. The institute is seeking comments on the draft through Sept. 30, 2024.

This standard sets out general rules for setting energy efficiency requirements and defining energy efficiency grading systems for products. The revision includes new provisions on what energy efficiency standards should be based on, the assessment of carbon emissions reduction, and transitional periods for standards implementation.
