On August 5, 2025, in response to ongoing international efforts—such as the Stockholm Convention—to regulate certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment (MOENV) announced the draft regulation titled “Management of Listed Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Operational Requirements” and initiated a public consultation.
Background
The draft regulation on the "Management of Listed Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Operational Requirements" is being introduced under Taiwan’s Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Control Act. This move is in line with continual international developments, such as the Stockholm Convention, which is expanding regulation on certain PFAS due to their potential environmental and health risks.
