Taiwan Promulgates Technical Standards Defining “Circularity Characteristics” Required for Recycling Mark Applications

On May 28, 2026, the Resource Circulation Administration (RCA) of Taiwan's Ministry of Environment promulgated technical standards defining the "circularity characteristics" required when applying for the Recycling Mark for five categories of products and services: textiles, plastics, glass containers, circular services, and inorganic materials. Starting July 2026, products and services that comply with these technical standards for circularity characteristics can submit applications for the Recycling Mark in accordance with the "Key Points for Promoting Circular Products and Circular Services" promulgated by the RCA. Products and services that obtain the Recycling Mark will receive incentives, such as being prioritized for procurement by government agencies and schools. According to the RCA's explanation, the period of validity for using the Recycling Mark is, in principle, three years, which can be extended only once, making it valid for a maximum of six years.
