623 consumer chemical products in Korea violate safety & labeling standards under K-BPR

On August 11, 2022, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment announced that during the period from January to June 2022, it had uncovered 623 products that violated safety and labeling standards under the Consumer Chemical Products and Biocides Safety Act (K-BPR) and blocked their distribution by banning their manufacture and import. According to the announcement by the Ministry, the following violations were identified: 1) 68 products that met safety standards when they were first declared, but exceeded the standards for the content of hazardous chemical substances when they were actually distributed; 2) 543 products that violated safety standards verification and declaration procedures before being distributed to the market; and 3) 12 products that violated labeling standards, including the display of declaration numbers.
