South Korea to improve the readability of biocidal product labeling to enhance consumers’ intuitive understanding of product information

On May 30, 2025, South Korea's Ministry of Environment (“MOE”) published a proposed amendment to the Regulation on Labeling of Biocidal Products (MOE Notice No. 2025-360). The proposed amendment specifies the labeling items to be displayed on product packages and the labeling methods targeting business operators who sell or distribute biocidal products (e.g., disinfectants, insecticides, and antiseptics) in South Korea. The amendment is intended to improve the poor readability of labels due to their duplicated and complicated content, and to prevent consumer confusion.
