South Korea’s Ministry of Environment to lower mandatory recycling amount when using recycled materials from plastic waste

On November 2, 2023, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced that in order to further promote the use of recycled materials, it will further reduce the mandatory recycling amount for companies those use raw materials that are generated by recycling plastic waste (hereinafter referred to as "raw materials recycled from plastic waste"). To institutionalize this concept, on the same day, the Ministry issued a notice proposing to amend the Notice on the Procedure for Reducing the Mandatory Recycling Amount for Producers Using Raw Materials Recycled from Plastic Waste.
