Beijing city to implement carbon emissions assessment in construction projects on trial basis

On June 20, 2022, the Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau released draft experimental rules for carbon emissions assessment in the environmental impact assessment of construction projects to solicit public comments. Construction projects in Beijing that are required by regulations to prepare an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report would be subject to the experimental rules. These projects would be required by the new rules to assess the carbon emissions impact and include the result and related information in the EIA report. Carbon emissions would be assessed in terms of amount and intensity.
