China issues technical standards for waste plastic pollution control

On May 31, 2022, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a National Ecological and Environmental Standard on Technical Specification for Pollution Control of Plastic Waste (HJ 364-2022), which came into effect immediately and replaced the standards Technical Specifications for Pollution Control during Collection and Recycle of Waste Plastics (HJ/T 364-2007).

These standards set out pollution control and record-keeping requirements for industrial companies generating waste plastic as well as requirements for hazardous waste.
