Indonesia Announces Presidential Decree to Promote Renewable Energy

In Indonesia, the Presidential Decree No. 112 of 2022 on the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development for Electricity Generation was promulgated on September 13, 2022 and came into effect immediately. The Presidential Decree aims to promote renewable energy in Indonesia and requires the state utility (Persero) to develop a power supply business plan including renewable energy (RUPTL: Rencana Usaha Penyediaan Tenaga Listrik). The Presidential Decree also mentions the abolition of thermal power plants.
