Indonesia introduces 2 national standards based on 7th edition of GHS

On Dec. 23, 2021, Indonesia introduced two Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). Both national standards are based on the seventh revised edition of the GHS. One of them, SNI 9030-1:2021, is a standard for hazard classification and the other one, SNI 9030-2:2021, for safety data sheets (SDS; “LDK” in Indonesian) and labels.

This standard establishes hazard classification. Section 5.1.2 provides the details of the classification system, which is based on the building block approach. For example, the categories adopted in health hazard are shown in the table below:
