Indonesia Issues Energy Efficiency Standards for Clean Water Pumps 
The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 212/2026 on the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards and Energy Conservation Labels for Clean Water Pumps on May 19, 2026. This decree mandates that all clean water pumps manufactured in or imported into the country must comply with the prescribed Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and display energy efficiency labels on the products. The decree was enforced upon its issuance, but a 12-month grace period will be granted for the labeling requirements.
Product Scope
Clean water pumps are classified into the following three categories. Refer to the original text for the detailed definition of each classification.
- Category I: Clean water pumps for shallow wells, clean water pumps for deep wells, semi-jet clean water pumps, or jet clean water pumps (Appendix I of the original text)
- Category II: Submersible clean water pumps (Appendix II of the original text)
- Category III: Booster pumps for clean water (Appendix III of the original text)
Energy Efficiency Standards
Energy efficiency standards are defined for each of the above product categories, and all products must achieve at least a 1-star rating. The energy efficiency standards for Category I are shown below.

Energy Efficiency Labels
Products must display a label in accordance with the specified dimensions and design. For imported products, labeling must be completed in advance at the exporting location. The label must display information such as the product’s MEPS, the achieved star rating, energy efficiency rate and product name, and then be affixed in a highly visible position on the front of the product.
Periodic Reporting
Unlike products under the energy efficiency labeling scheme, manufacturers and importers of clean water pumps are required to submit reports once every three months. The reports shall include the model name, capacity, and volume manufactured or imported during the three-month period.
