India further postpones enactment date of QCOs for polyurethanes and polycarbonate, etc.

On September 2, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers issued an order further postponing the date of enactment of the Quality Control Order for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), ethylene dichloride, polycarbonate, vinyl chloride monomers, p-xylene and polyurethanes. Although an order postponing enforcement was issued in March 2022 for these substances, based on this order, the date of enforcement will be amended to March 12, 2023 for ABS resins, ethylene dichloride, polycarbonate, and vinyl chloride monomers, and to March 19, 2023 for p-xylene and polyurethanes. In accordance with the provisions of the Quality Control Order, products must bear the “Standard Mark” based on the license granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards in Schedule II Scheme I of the “Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.” Anyone who violates the provisions of the Quality Control Order will be punished under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act 2016.
