India revises QCO for Toluene, Ethylene Glycol, etc.

On December 29, 2021, India’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers published new quality control orders for Phthalic Anhydride, Ethylene Glycol, Toluene, Terephthalic Acid, n-Butyl Acrylate. These orders replaced the respective orders notified in 2020, which will enter into force on June 22, 2022. The subject goods have to bear the “Standard Mark” in accordance with the license granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards in Scheme I of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Rules, 2018. Any violation of the provisions of the order shall be punishable under the “Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016”. For the scope of coverage, it is necessary to refer to each applicable Indian Standard. This order shall not apply to subject goods for export purposes.

  • The Indian Standards that must be observed shall be the latest edition in force at all times.
  • The scope of the Quality Control Order should refer to the applicable Indian Standard.
