India India issues an instruction for changes in energy efficiency standards for LED lamps.

New standards will be from July 2020.

On April 27, 2020, India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) issued the instruction which stated that energy efficiency standards for LED lamps subject to “Standards & Labeling Programme” would be changed to the new standards from July. The new standard is promulgated in a notification published on October 9, 2019 (S.O. 3631(E)) .Current energy label for models will be automatically expired on June 30, 2020 so that if you wish to continue, you must follow these instructions.

Manufacturers can use the dedicated portal site to complete the conversion process to the new label and must submit necessary documents as hard copy to BEE. Renewal fee is Rs.1000 per model and it is accepted through online payment. Also, the application form, approval letter for existing models issued by BEE and a sample of the new label must be submitted through online by June 30, 2020.
