India India extends validity of energy labels for Washing machine and Microwave Oven to end of 2022

On November 18, 2021, India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power issued the notifications for extending the validity of the existing energy efficiency standards-based ratings for washing machine and microwave oven, which are voluntary products under the Standards & Labeling Programme, to the end of 2022. Where manufactures or permittees wish to continue the existing labels that have already been approved for product models, they have to fill with the prescribed form and submit it to BEE with a sample of the revised label until December 23, 2021.

For washing machine and microwave oven, energy-saving labeling was scheduled to become mandatory from 2022, along with chiller, but this notification postponed the date to 2023.
