India reveals draft standard for Toluene Diisocyanate

On August 2, 2021, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announced a draft standard specifying requirements, sampling and test methods for toluene diisocyanate (TDI-80), and is inviting comments until September 1, 2021. TDI-80 shall be a mixture of 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (80%) and 2,6-toluene diisocyanate (20%), and this proposed standard covers TDI-80 Type I (for low acidity). Each test is specified in Annex A through G, and the requirements in Table 1 must be observed. In addition, the containers used must be those agreed upon between the purchaser and supplier, and must be labeled with information about the substance and manufacturer. In addition, the Standard Mark may be displayed if certification has been obtained under the Conformity Assessment Scheme under the Indian Standards Act, 2016 and related regulations.
