India Clarifies Recycling and Labelling Provisions under Battery EPR

On May 28, 2024, Central Pollution Control Board of India (CPCB) has promulgated a notice about the provisions for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. Producers are obligated to label batteries with necessary information as well as recycle waste batteries generated, while this notice seeks to clarify the provisions regarding labeling and recycling.
