Taiwan to revise regulations related to GHS labels of chemicals

On July 21, 2022, the Environmental Protection Administration of Taiwan announced a notice on partial revisions to the “Regulations on the labeling and safety data sheets management for toxic and concerned chemicals” and started to solicit comments. The deadline for submitting comments is 30 days after the release of the notice. The Regulation stipulates requirements of GHS-compliant labeling as well as the preparation of safety data sheets (SDS) for toxic chemicals and chemicals of concern. The proposed revisions newly include the addition of "words of warning" and other items to be indicated on labels, as well as provisions regarding the minimum dimensions of labels. In consideration of the time required to revise labels, a one-year grace period has been set aside for the above additional provisions, which are currently expected to come into effect on August 31, 2023.
