South Korea to set detailed rules for declaration of changes in priority-controlled substances contained in products

On August 25, 2023, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) of South Korea announced proposed amendments to the Enforcement Order and Enforcement Rules of the Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. of Chemicals (hereinafter referred to as "Chemicals Evaluation Act"). In South Korea, beginning in January 4, 2024, it will be mandatory to file a change declaration if there are changes in important matters of previously reported information regarding priority-controlled substances contained in products. The MOE stated that the proposed amendments give detailed rules for the declaration.

According to the MOE, on and after January 4, 2024, businesses who have reported priority-controlled substances contained in their products will be required to make a declaration on changes in any of the following items (hereinafter "change declaration") to MOE by the end of January of the year following the year in which the change occurs.
