On September 9, 2025, Indonesia has published the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 12 of 2025 concerning Textile Business Activities Wastewater Quality Standards. This regulation amends the previous wastewater standards for the textile industry, applying stricter limits for facilities that discharge more than 100 cm3 of wastewater per day. Businesses that hold existing environmental approvals (such as an Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan, or Environmental Management and Monitoring Statement) have two years from the date of promulgation to comply with the new standards. This new regulation repeals Article 16A and Annex XLII of the Minister of Environment Regulation No. 5 of 2014, which previously governed wastewater from the textile industry.
