Indonesia to Introduce Plastic Waste EPR Regulations by 2029

On August 18, 2025, Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment announced its intention to mandate an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system for plastic waste by 2029, as part of efforts to strengthen national waste management policies. According to state media outlet Antara News, the Minister mentioned that a regulatory framework focusing on reuse and recycling is under development, while emphasizing the need for producers using single use plastics and plastic packaging to assume greater responsibility.
