Indonesia’s new order to control metropolitan air pollution: punishment includes suspension of operation

In August 2023, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia promulgated Ministerial Circular SK.929/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/8/2023, which stipulates air pollution control measures in the metropolitan area. The Circular orders to implement air pollution control measures in several areas for the "Jabodetabek" region, i.e., the metropolitan region centering on Jakarta. The measures listed include monitoring of compliance with emission standards at mobile sources and at fixed sources.
