Indonesia promulgated regulation setting forth detailed requirements for technical documentation for cosmetics

On August 2, 2023, the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM: Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan in Indonesian) promulgated BPOM Regulation No. 17 of 2023 on Guidance for Cosmetic Product Information (hereinafter "the Regulation"). The Regulation sets forth specific guidance for the preparation of cosmetic product information documents (DIP: Dokumen Informasi Produk). For the distribution of cosmetics in Indonesia, a DIP must be prepared for each product, indicating information on safety, efficacy, and quality. This Regulation came into effect upon promulgation, and existing DIPs will need to be revised in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation within six months of the effective date.
