Effective from September 2021

India publishes Quality Control Order for sewing machines

On March 17, 2021, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry published the quality control order for sewing machines. The order will come into force on September 1, 2021. The provisions of this order are as follows.

 

  • Goods or articles specified in the table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard as specified in the said table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per the Scheme I of Schedule II of the “Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018”. However, this does not apply to goods exported outside India.

Sewing Machines IS 15449 : Part 1 : 2004 Household Zig-Zag Sewing Machine Head: Part 1 General Requirements.

The Indian Standards that must be complied with shall be the latest version in force at all times.
