India India publishes quality control order for refrigerating appliances

Come into effect from January 1, 2021

On December 10, 2020, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry published the “Refrigerating Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2020”. The draft of the order was notified to WTO-TBT on November 4, and a 30-day comment period was held. The order will enter into force on January 1, 2021

  • Goods or articles specified in the table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard as specified in the said table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per the Scheme I of Schedule II of the “Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018”. Provided that nothing in this Order shall apply to goods or articles meant for export.

The Indian Standards that must be complied with shall be the latest version in force at all times.
