India Withdraws Mandatory Certification Scheme for Industrial Equipment under Scheme X

On January 14, 2026, the Ministry of Heavy Industries of India published an order abolishing the mandatory certification system for industrial equipment under "Scheme X" of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Although originally scheduled to enforce in August 2025, its implementation was postponed to September 2026, followed by an order in November 2025 announcing its indefinite postponement.
