Various Indian media outlets have reported, on December 11, 2025, that a new rules mandating labelling of contents for apparel and home textiles is currently under consideration. According to the Ministry of Textiles and related stakeholders, the rule will apply to apparel and home textiles (definitions unclear) sold within the country, in order to align with international legislations such as the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act of the United States. The purpose of the rules is reportedly to protect consumer rights through transparent information disclosure, as well as extend the overall lifespan of such textile products.
