On November 13, 2025, India’s Ministry of Heavy Industries issued an order announcing the indefinite postponement of the effective date for the mandatory certification scheme “Scheme X” for industrial equipment under Schedule II of the "Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018." Scheme X, which covers various industrial equipment and low-voltage switchgear and control gear, was initially scheduled for August 2025 but was then rescheduled to September 2026. The latest order now amends the effective date to a "date as may be notified by the Central Government," an indefinite postponement, but the certification scheme itself is not rescinded.
