India Exempts “White” Category Sectors from Emission & Effluent Consent Application

On November 12, 2024, India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) promulgated two notifications regarding exemption from the requirement to obtain consents for emission and effluent. Under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, consents by the respective State Pollution Control Boards (SPCB) were required in order to discharge emissions and effluent.
