India Defers Use of Recycling Materials in Automotive & Industrial Batteries till 2027

India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has promulgated the Battery Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024 under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. Under the said rules, newly manufactured automotive and industrial batteries are required to achieve minimum use of recycling materials starting 2024, but is now deferred till 2027 according to the amendment.
