On April 28, 2025, Japan released its National Implementation Plan for the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC): Creating a World Free from Harmful Effects of Chemicals and Waste. This plan establishes a comprehensive approach to chemical management across the entire lifecycle, aiming to achieve five strategic objectives and 28 targets. The GFC replaces the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) as the new global framework.
