Japan Begins Public Consultation on Draft Amendments to Specify LC-PFCA as Class I Specified Chemical Substances in the Ministerial Ordinance and Notification under CSCL

On September 1, 2026, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW); Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI); Ministry of the Environment (MOE); and other relevant ministries jointly launched a public consultation on draft amendments to explicitly include “long‑chain perfluoroalkanoic acids and their salts” and “long‑chain perfluoroalkanoic acid‑related substances” in the Ministerial Ordinances and Notifications under the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc. (Chemical Substances Control Law, CSCL).
