Japan Publishes Ministerial Ordinance Specifying 156 Long-Chain PFCA-Related Substances Under CSCL

On September 18, 2026, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Ministry of the Environment (MOE) jointly published in the Official Gazette a Ministerial Ordinance specifying the chemical substances subject to regulation as long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acid (long-chain PFCA)-related substances, which were newly added to the category of Class I Specified Chemical Substances under the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc. (CSCL).
