Japan announced 17 chemicals newly found to be mutagenic

On December 12, 2024, Circular Notice No. 1212-2 issued by the Director of the Labor Standards Office announced that a total of 17 chemical substances, as listed in its Annex, are newly identified to be highly mutagenic after mutagenicity test results deliberation by academic experts. These 17 substances are among the 643 new chemical substances of which names were notified from December 27, 2023 to September 27, 2024 under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
