China releases GB/T “Evaluation of the energy performance of lighting systems”

On December 31, 2021, The State Administration for Market Regulation and Standardization Administration of China jointly released a recommended national standard – “Evaluation of the energy performance of lighting systems (GB/T 41014-2021)”. The standard will come into force on July 1, 2022, and the main contents are as follows.

Application scope

It applies to energy performance evaluation of lighting systems for urban roads, highway tunnels, public buildings, outdoor work sites. And other energy performance evaluation of lighting systems can refer to it. While it doesn’t apply to acceptance evaluation of lighting systems.

Energy performance rating

Energy performance of lighting systems are divided into 3 levels. Among them, level-1 is the highest level, which is “top-runner level”. The requirements for total score of each energy performance level of lighting systems are as follows.

Level Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Total 90<S≦100 75<S≦90 60≦S≦75
S refers to the total score of energy performance evaluation of lighting systems (0ut of 100 points).

If the total score of energy performance evaluation of a lighting system is lower than 60 points, the lighting system will fail the evaluation, and measures should be taken to improve it in time.

Evaluation index system and scoring method

Evaluation index system and scoring method are specified in the annex of the standard. The evaluation index system consists of three levels of indicators. There are 5 indicators in level-1, they are equipment and facilities, system design, energy-saving monitoring, operation control, energy-saving reconstruction. Among them, the ratio of the score of the index related to “equipment and facilities” is the highest, accounting for 40 points out of the total.

Evaluation procedures

The evaluation will be carried out in the order of determining application scope, determining evaluation cycle, collecting materials, implementing evaluation, writing evaluation report.
