China Promulgates National Standard for On-Board Energy Consumption Monitoring in Passenger Cars 
On July 30, 2026, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) officially published the recommended national standard Technical Requirements for On-Board Energy Consumption Monitoring of Passenger Cars (GB/T 47983-2026). The standard will take effect on February 1, 2027.
Formulated to eliminate the significant discrepancy between laboratory test values and real-world energy consumption under complex driving conditions, this standard establishes a monitoring framework for real-world driving data. It provides an effective mechanism to evaluate vehicle carbon emissions and builds a foundation for carbon accounting across the automotive sector.
