China MEE and Other Agencies Release the “15th Five-Year Plan for Ecological Protection”

On August 6, 2026, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with five central government agencies including the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for Ecological Protection. This plan outlines the general requirements, main objectives, key tasks, and major projects for ecological protection, including biodiversity conservation, during the "15th Five-Year Plan Period" (2025–2030). Regarding biodiversity conservation, four policy directions have been established: strengthening wild species protection, promoting urban biodiversity conservation, strengthening biosafety risk prevention, and leading global biodiversity governance.
