Beijing city launches 2025 action plans for air, water, soil pollution control, climate change, ecological protection

On Jan. 27, 2025, the government of Beijing, China announced 2025 action plans for air, water and soil pollution control, climate change response, and ecological protection. The official notice refers to the action plans collectively as “Promote the development of beautiful Beijing — 2025 action plans to advance the battle for pollution control”.

The action plans consist of 108 measures in total. Measures for air pollution control include new-energy vehicle promotion as well as clean production audits of VOC emission-intensive businesses. Measures for climate change response include increasing the share of renewable energy above 15% by the end of 2025, and conducting research on carbon footprint assessment in liquid crystal display and other industries. Some of the measures are listed below.
