China notifies WTO of draft revised mandatory national standard for MEPS of computers

On Aug. 1, 2024, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation made a WTO/TBT notification of a draft revised mandatory national standard (GB) called the Minimum Allowable Values of Energy Efficiency and Energy Grades for Microcomputers. Comments on the draft will be accepted for 60 days from the notification.

When the revised standard will be adopted is not clear, but it will come into effect 12 months after its approval. The draft has stricter criteria for energy efficiency grades of computers than the current version (GB 28380-2012).
