China announces special action plan for energy conservation, carbon reduction in electrolytic aluminum production industry

On July 23, 2024, China’s National Development and Reform Commission announced a Special Action Plan for Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction in the Electrolytic Aluminum Production Industry. The key plans of the action plan include the phase-out of energy-inefficient equipment, such as inefficient fans, motors and pumps, as well as the promotion of non-fossil fuel energy, such as wind power, solar power, hydropower and biomass energy.
