Vietnam announces prime minister’s decision to implement national power plan by 2030

On April 1, 2024, the Vietnamese government promulgated “Decision No. 262/QD-TTg on the Implementation Plan for the Vietnam National Power Development Plan 2021-2030 with a Vision for 2050” (hereinafter referred to as the “Decision”). The Decision sets out a list of projects to achieve the goals listed in the Eighth National Power Development Plan, which was established on May 15, 2023, based on Prime Ministerial Decision 500/QD-TTg, and a specific plan for them. The Eighth National Power Development Plan stipulates a master plan for the development of power supplies and transmission networks of more than 220kV, renewable energy industries and services, and new energy (including grid connections with neighboring countries) in Vietnam.
