Japan Revises Screening Evaluation and Establishes Impurity Thresholds of MCCPs under CSCL

On July 24, 2026, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry(METI), Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare(MHLW), and Ministry of the Environment(MOE) jointly deliberated revisions to the screening evaluation associated with the designation of medium‑chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) as Class I Specified Chemical Substances under the Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL). MCCPs are defined as polychlorinated linear paraffins with carbon numbers from 14 to 17 and chlorine content of 45 percent or more by molecular weight.
