Taiwan plans to add 2-chloroethanol and γ-butyrolactone(GBL) to the list of chemicals of concern

On October 9, 2023, the Chemicals Administration of the Ministry of Environment released an article on strengthening the management of chemicals of concern on its website. According to the article, 2-chloroethanol, which poses a risk on food safety, and γ-butyrolactone(GBL), which is a drug precursor, are under the consideration to be added into the list of chemicals of concern.
