Taiwan expands scope of freezers subject to RoHS regulations

On September 26, 2023, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan announced the amendment of the regulations on freezers subject to Taiwan’s RoHS regulations. The amendment comes into effect immediately. The amended regulation expands the scope of freezers, and adds regulations for products equipped with rechargeable lithium-based batteries. The inspection standards for freezers include CNS 15663 Section 5 “Content labelling” (2013 edition), therefore, freezers shall be labelled with the content status of regulated substances.

Expanding the application scope of freezers

In addition to upright freezers, the amended regulation adds horizontal freezers as regulated products. Moreover, the regulated freezers are expanded to include products with an effective internal volume of 700L or less.
