China issues national standards for contaminated soil remediation

On Feb. 2, 2023, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued two national ecology and environment standards called the “Technical Specifications of Contaminated Soil Remediation — Biopiling” (HJ 1283-2023) and “Technical Specifications of Contaminated Soil Remediation Solidification/Stabilization” (HJ 1282-2023), respectively, for standardized design, construction and management of soil remediation work. These standards will come into effect May 1, 2023.
