China to implement stricter regulations on excessive packaging of goods

On Sept. 1, 2022, the General Office of China’s State Council announced a series of measures to restrict excessive packaging of goods. The measures include targets for 2025 as well as requirements for packaging designers, product manufacturers and goods sellers. There are also plans for regulatory improvement, standards revision and new standards development for effective oversight of excessive packaging. For electronic products, recommended national standards will be developed to promote simple packaging and restrict excessive packaging.
