China China released Forerunner standard evaluation requirements (draft for comments) related to vehicles

In 2018, State Administration for Market Regulations and other 7 departments of China jointly announced a corporate standard “forerunner” system based on corporate self-declared disclosure will be established and implemented. In this system, the corporate standard “forerunner” is clarified, third-party evaluation organizations are applied to implement the evaluation of corporate standard level, products and services quality for fields like consumer goods, equipment manufacturing and services, and the evaluation results will be announced in a ranking format. The aim of the system is to promote the improvement of corporate standard level, and the quality of products and services.

On June 24, 2021, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the drafts of comments and explanations of “Forerunner standard evaluation requirements -Brake assembly of passenger car” and other 5 association standards. In these 6 association standards, the technical terms and definitions, evaluation index system, grade classifications, test evaluation methods of “forerunner” standards are stipulated for each field. These standards can be used as reference standards when the third-party organizations carry out enterprises standards “forerunner” evaluation activities.

 

The names and application scopes of these 6 association standards are as follows.

 

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements -Brake assembly of passenger car

It’s applicable to the floating caliper disc brake assembly for M1 vehicles, and the brake disc body is made of gray cast iron.

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements –Fuel cell city bus

It’s applicable to the “forerunner” standard evaluation of M3 (8-12m) fuel cell city buses using compressed gaseous hydrogen. Fuel cell city bus manufacturers can disclose advanced standards with reference to this document.

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements –Battery electric light-duty transport vehicle

It’s applicable to the “forerunner” standard evaluation of N1 and N2 battery electric light-duty transport vehicles with a gross weight less than 4500kg and a total length less than 6000mm.

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements -Fuel cell engines for vehicles

It’s applicable to the “forerunner” standard evaluation of fuel cell engines. Fuel cell engines manufacturers can disclose advanced standards with reference to this document. And it also applies to proton exchange membrane fuel cell engines for vehicles.

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements -Electric vehicles traction battery

It’s applicable to lithium ion traction battery packs and battery systems loaded on electric vehicles, mainly for high-energy applications. Traction battery manufacturers can disclose advanced standards with reference to this document.

  1. Forerunner standard evaluation requirements -Battery electric city bus

It’s applicable to the “forerunner” standard evaluation of M3 (8-12 meters) battery electric city bus. Battery electric city bus manufacturers can disclose advanced standards with reference to this document.
