China announces indicator system of clean production evaluation for 6 industries 
China’s National Development and Reform Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the following “clean production evaluation indicator system” for 6 industries on December 31, 2020.
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Chemical Raw Materials Manufacturing Industry
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Sulfuric Acid Industry
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Recycled Rubber Industry
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Germanium Industry
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Accommodation & Catering Industry
- Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Freshwater Aquaculture Industry
The above systems were established to steadily implement the “Law on the Promotion of Clean Production”, to establish a well-organized, systematic and standardized evaluation indicator system for clean production, and to guide and promote enterprises to implement clean production in accordance with the Law. The above systems will take effect on April 1, 2021.

The application scope of “Clean Production Evaluation Indicator System for Chemical Raw Materials Manufacturing Industry” is as follows.
This indicator system specifies the general requirements for clean production of chemical raw material production enterprises. This indicator system divides clean production evaluation indicators into 6 categories: production processes and equipment indicators, resources and energy consumption indicators, resources utilization indicators, pollutant generation indicators, product characteristics indicators and clean production management indicators.
This indicator system applies to clean production audit, evaluation for clean production potential and opportunities, clean production performance assessment and clean production performance announcement system, as well as environmental impact assessment, emission permits, environmental protection leader and other environmental management system, for chemical drug substance producers (including production enterprises which use synthesis, extraction, fermentation and other methods for preparation of chemical raw materials) .
