China’s Ministry of Emergency Management Releases Two Draft Mandatory National Standards for “Smart PPE”

On June 9, 2026, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China released two draft mandatory national standards for Smart Personal Protective Equipment (Smart PPE—Smart safety helmets and Smart PPE —Smart heating protective clothing) to solicit public comments. The deadline for submitting comments is August 8, 2026. The standard for safety helmets was developed to address the long-standing challenge of relying solely on passive, physical protection, which often fails to prevent blind spots on-site, such as delayed rescues during accidents.
