China Updates National Standard that Sets Criteria for Solid Waste

On November 4, 2025, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a mandatory national standard, “Identification Standards for Solid Wastes General Rules” (GB 34330-2025). This is an update to the previous version issued in 2017, and will come into effect March 1, 2026. This standard sets criteria for determining if substances or materials as well as products, goods and other items should be classified as solid waste.
